If Pittsburghers coming to see Madonna’s first show since 1985 were expecting a greatest hits set that helped define a decade, they were in for quite a surprise on election night. The MDNA tour is a glitzy, highly conceptualized spectacle in the vein of “The Wall.” Its narrative encompasses violence, religion and of course, sex.

Looking worlds away from the artist at the Super Bowl who seemed to need a Boniva break, Madonna displayed boundless energy throughout a grueling two hour plus set. She executed dance moves so strenuous and complex, you could almost feel your own muscles pulling. Always known for employing some of the best dancers in the world, the current crop are stunning contortionists.
